Hi Larry,
It's Shelli Miller, Adam's mom, and I have wanted to write you all week. I hope it's okay for me to contact you via email.
I wanted you to know how lucky I feel to have been present at last week's meeting and how deeply moved I have been since then. I remain in awe of you and the incredible accomplishments you have made in your young life. It is so rare in this day and age for there to be a leader who speaks from such absolute knowledge, definition, direction and yet with such understanding and compassion as well. You and your staff have created a Haven of Hope. What a gift you are to all of us, and how deeply humbled and grateful we feel.
Thank you for the encouraging comments you said about Adam. I believe he is as committed as he seems, and though we know he has a long way to go, this is the first time in years I can even allow myself to feel there is hope for him. Thank you so much for that.
I also wanted to say how privileged I felt to have seen Tony receive his 10-year cake and to hear his touching, heartfelt words to you. And then to hear you speak - well, I am sure you know there was not a dry eye in the room. I hope you always feel (or at least can conjure up) the Enormous love and respect that surrounds you and the depths to which you deserve it.
I can think of no greater success in life than to help a fellow human being attain the responsibility to care for himself, to truly love and respect himself and others, and to be productive and give back to humanity. You continue, day in and day out, to do just that. You are truly a gift from God.
