Adult Addiction ServicesProgram Overview
Ridgeview's Adult Addiction Services offers a well-integrated continuum of care for individuals with addictive or dual diagnosis disorders. Our program is based on the belief that addiction is a chronic, progressive, primary illness affecting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the individual and family.
It has been our experience that adults with addictive disorders are seldom addicted to just one substance or behavior. Ridgeview's program combines five levels of treatment, a broad spectrum of specialty groups and services, and the 12-Step programs of recovery. This unique approach addresses addictive disease and its associated problems in a comprehensive yet individualized manner. The goal of treatment is to help patients learn how to cope with life free from addiction.
We believe that addiction is a primary drive that must be managed through education, cognitive restructuring, emotive therapies, and the experience of learning to live addiction free. Each of these processes helps the patient unearth the issues that drive their addiction and learn how to halt the addictive response. In doing so, they begin to recover from the shame that surrounds their illness, and learn how to relate to self and others in healthier ways.

Treatment Planning
Before admission to any of the Adult Addiction programs, patients undergo a comprehensive assessment of their physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and family needs to determine the most appropriate level of care. The treatment team, led by the attending psychiatrist, develops an individual treatment plan for each patient and meets regularly to review each patient's progress and to update treatment goals. A clinical case manager, assigned upon admission, works closely with each patient to ensure that the treatment plan is meeting his or her changing needs.

Staff
Directed by a board certified psychiatrist with a certification in addiction medicine, Adult Addiction Services represents many professional disciplines, including medicine, nursing, social work, counseling, spirituality, expressive, and activity therapies. Many of the staff are recovering themselves and have a personal and professional commitment to helping people with addiction problems. Experienced and compassionate, Ridgeview staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to assist each patient through the treatment process.
Family Services
Addiction is a family disease. Treatment for the entire family and/or significant others is a critical component in the treatment process. Spouses often feel responsible for their partner's addiction, and parents feel responsible for the addictions of their children. The family often becomes as disabled as the addict. Clinical staff provide a wide range of services, including individual therapy, patient and family groups, and weekly support and education groups to patient families and significant others during and after treatment. Family Workshop
Our four-day Family Workshop, held monthly, provides opportunities for patients and families to heal together. General sessions address family communication, rules and roles, codependent relationships, shame and self-esteem. Other groups deal with the impact of specific issues - depression, eating disorders, trauma, and more - on the
family system.
Recovery Residence
Located on the Ridgeview campus, our Recovery Residence provide a supportive living environment for patients in partial hospitalization or outpatient treatment. Community living helps patients begin to restore the balance between work, family and leisure while actively engaging in 12-Step fellowship and recovery.
Discharge Planning & Continuing Care
Ridgeview recognizes that recovery is a lifelong process. Discharge planning begins upon admission. The treatment team works closely with each patient to set realistic goals for recovery and to develop a continuing care plan to solidify the gains made in treatment. We also help patients and their families who need referral for additional treatment or support services in their home communities. Our continuing care program extends for a minimum of two years, and includes follow-up and weekly support groups.
Alumni Association
The Steering Committee for Ridgeview's Alumni Association has more than 100 members who are committed to supporting patients in the adult addiction programs. Alumni are available to talk with patients and families new to recovery, support and reinforce the 12-Step program, and help bridge the gap between treatment and the outside world. Most importantly, the alumni help restore hope. Many former patients have told us that talking to someone who had experienced success in recovery made all the difference.
The Alumni Association is active in the recovering community year round and regularly sponsors speaker meetings, family events, parties and retreats.
