    About Us

    About Us

Metropolitan Serenity House is a licensed Residential Treatment Center offering four programs for young men whose lives and plans are being shattered by the use of drugs and alcohol. Each is designed to address different levels of need. Together they take young men through primary residential treatment, long term goal realization, development of goal achievement plan and through a learning and healing process to a point where they can realistically expect to live sober and fulfilling lives.

CARF: When the service or program you choose is CARF-accredited, it means your provider has passed an in-depth review of its services. It is your assurance that the provider meets rigorous CARF guidelines for service and quality -- a qualified endorsement that your provider conforms to nationally and internationally recognized service standards and is focused on delivering the most favorable results for you.

    Our programs:

Serenity House is a residential treatment center for young men between ages 15 and 28. A staff of more than 25 attends a maximum of 16 residents.

CARS is an acronym for crisis and response services. This program offers services at a low cost for young men who have had conventional treatment, exhausted family funds and haven't been successful in their recovery.

Avner Bush Academy is an accredited private high school only for Serenity House clients, where those young men who do not have diplomas may receive individualized instruction, earn credits at their own pace, transfer these credits to other schools or graduate from our academy. College preparatory and study assistance is also available for clients who enter or continue college while in any of the Serenity House programs.

The Three-Quarter Aftercare Program serves young men who have completed the Serenity House program and offers them continued support while they begin life on their own.

Gentry's Option present Serenity House graduates with the opportunity to live in an apartment with a daily check-in and scheduling by Serenity House staff. They attend aftercare group and group therapy meetings once weekly. Transportation (if needed), food, cable, computer for school/college is available and individual therapy can be arranged for those who desire individual counseling. Twelve step meetings and sponsors are a requirement.

The Alumni Relapse Prevention Program serves young men who have completed The Serenity House Program, and need a fresh start. They are at least twenty-one years old, and have demonstrated an ability to maintain substantial periods of sobriety.

Complete descriptions of these programs are presented beneath the corresponding buttons at the top.

    Our History:

Anne Bush Ambrose learned about addiction the hard way when her three sons became addicted. She took her own boys from treatment center to treatment center, learning some things that worked and some that didn't, until at last she synthesized her own treatment philosophy. She counseled families for eight years before founding Metropolitan Serenity House in 1989, a licensed Residential Treatment Program. Serenity House became a nonprofit organization in 2000. After several previous locations, the treatment residence found its permanent home beside a small lake in the rolling hills outside Atlanta.  When the founder and executive director meet parents today, she understands their pain because of her own experience as a parent
